Sexism in Buddhist academia: how women’s work and voices are silenced and ignored

My work is not perfect or error-free either, yet high quality, original, research, translation and scholarship should never be about careerism, networking or massaging insecure, male egos. In particular, it’s disappointing that scholars in the field of Buddha Dharma appear to have some of the strongest egos when the whole point of Dharma is to reduce the ego. And there is the lesson, folks. As the great Buddhist masters have often said, intellectual scholarship of Buddha Dharma, if it is used to strengthen and prop up one’s career, identity and ego is like turning nectar into poison. There must be study, contemplation AND meditation for it to become genuine wisdom.
